OK–Big subject! Which one you might ask? Well, Money of course!

I have been so caught in a money maze in the last 4 months that I have forgotten meditation. Not really, but at times YES. How can I meditate when I am so caught up in my New York life!  My life that is so embroiled in “making money”, how am I supposed to create a life of meditating and following my life’s purpose and passion, which is to live life consciously, with intention and focus and share this with others?  All the while trying to sustain a life here on Long Island, New York!  Lot’s of exclamation points in this blog today. These are really fiery questions and thoughts. Of course fiery, it’s April, my month, Aries/Fire and this fire within has been raging for months.

While writing this and contemplating these questions I wanted to listen to something comforting. I turned to Van Morrison classics and a new CD by Beck called Morning Phase.  While listening to Van Morrison an article with an interview popped up from Amazon about one of his recent CD’s (2012) Born to Sing:No Plan B. The Universe and I have a lot of fun together and it likes to play with me–so the part of the article that jumped out at me in that exact moment was about a song called “If in Money We Trust.” Yes–this is how my life works–MAGIC!  So of course I had to stop everything and read further. I am quoting from the Van Morrison interview in this article:

Most fascinating might be -“If in Money We Trust-a song length meditation on the ways in which cash has replaced God at the center of the modern belief system. That came from looking at a dollar bill and turning the concept on its head. He says, I thought, what is this stuff on here, what does it mean? Some peoples God is money, we’ve discovered that about a lot of people recently, so then what happens after that–what happens if you don’t have it, or if you don’t have enough?”

Well there you have it. Or I should say…there I have it… “a song length meditation” his exact words. If we were talking right now you would see me being very animated about this last sentence. I love it! Meditation and Money. Last lines of this song are: “You’ve got to think it through again.” I listened to this song and really did feel a meditative quality about it. As a matter of fact I am listening to it right now while writing this blog. His song is my “blog mantra” today.

Here I am in my money maze while listening to Van Morrison’s song- using writing as my meditation and feeling so much calmer and connected. Yes, all those “money issues” are still here. However, his song and the Universe together have helped me to “think it through again”.

I do believe that “Anything is Possible” –including fantasizing that I can trade in these quartz crystals (that I dug up in Arkansas) for a house. A house that I love and have been embroiled in a legal matter for these past few months.

I got caught in the money maze and thanks to Van Morrison, the Universe and MUSIC – I released myself!
