I cannot stop reflecting on what this Iceland experience has offered me.  I see when I walk away from such a powerful adventure I start saying one of my favorite lines “What’s it all about?”

I could drop into..What is my purpose? Why am I here? What is my life about? All the really easy questions… these questions are a trap for me.

Therefore, when I see myself (literally be aware of watching myself) walking down that path/road I have to put the brakes on my thoughts and say to myself — this may not be the time to start figuring these things out. Actually, what I have come to realized is that there is never really a time to figure those questions out. I have now discovered in my life that those questions actually hinder any movement for me. They seem to stifle and stop me in my tracks. So with awareness I can gently say to myself: all is well, you are OK and just relax and BE. You do not have to do anything, prove anything, create anything different other than what is already being created just by the fact that you are here. Meaning, in physical, in my body, present to what is and everything that is presented to me.

Now that is a tricky thing. Stopping, breathing and knowing that everything is happening in the perfect order and time. Over the last 10 years I have really slowed down and have made a conscious decision to watch everything that is in front of me. I have a motto : “I will not take an action until I know what I am feeling.” No matter how big or small that action is: a return phone call, a letter/email to be written, an appointment–I check in with myself for everything.

Sometimes this is not what other people want. And it can cause others to have feelings about my choices. However,  I try to create a space for all of us to have “all of our feelings”-disappointments, annoyances or whatever rises inside that experience. What I have discovered is usually on the other side of those feelings is another feeling of complete acceptance and freedom.  Total Free Will! To change your mind. I have found that by modeling this behavior it gives others permission to stop and decide what they might need in their experience too. So many times we are on auto pilot just moving from place to place from busy to busier without stopping and allowing for our bodies to catch up with what we are doing. I know that might sound funny but I really think that most are operating outside of their bodies. Yes-of course we are always in our bodies BUT not really. These incredible bodies are carrying us around but how often do you stop and feel yourself? Feel your breathing, your breath, the way your arms feel next to your torso, the way your legs are carrying you, the way your butt feels on a chair or your ankles feel while resting? This is what I mean by checking in and feeling your body. The way your solar plexus contracts and expands with something said or felt. The tension or relaxation in your shoulders. This is what I mean by inhabiting your body. Being present in your body.

So many thoughts and feelings have risen from this wild adventure.
